Who wrote the google search algorithms?
The Google search algorithm is one of the finest lines of code ever written and is a very precise set of calculations and problem-solving operations carried out by a computer.
The Google search algorithm is written by an Indian who is a very humble and kind gentleman.
Amit Singhal - One of the most influential engineers at Google.
Graduate from IIT Roorkee and Ph.D. from Cornell University.
Fortune named Singhal one of the smartest people in tech.

- After graduating from IIT Roorkee he worked as a database programmer at a software company
- He left his job to pursue a masters programme at the University of Minnesota where he worked on information retrieval
- By 1996, he also completed a Ph.D. from Cornell, this time joining AT&T Labs, where he worked on projects like SCAN, which combined speech recognition, information retrieval, and user interface technologies.
- “Soon after joining, Singhal decided the code Google used for figuring out how to rank its search results needed a major overhaul. It had been written by Sergey Brin, and it was very sloppy. Singhal rewrote the whole thing in two months, adding huge improvements to relevancy and speed.”
He is a master of the ranking algorithm which displays web pages based to the user based on ranking them which is influenced by a lot of factors. Each time you enter a search query it is broken down into an index and is then searched over all the web pages and the number runs into millions but the hardest part is ranking them based on priority.
The search algorithm has the ability to show accurate results no matter how misspelled or vague it can get due to its ability of natural language understanding.
In 2006, Singhal was named a Google Fellow, an award with a prize in the millions of dollars. He earned a nickname and is known as the King of the Ranking.
